Loststolendog.com was founded in early 2021 by a group of dog lovers & owners who want to make a difference.
Our initial aim was to raise awareness to the horrendous increase in dog thefts and help reunite lost and stolen dogs with their human families. Having your dog taken from you or go missing is not only traumatic for the dogs, but their owners as well, and can have lasting negative impacts on their lives.
The team at loststolendog.com came together and conducted in-depth market research interviewing over 1000 dog owners up and down the country. One of the key questions was “what they would do in that moment if their dog was being stolen?” and “what they would do in that moment if they realised their dog was lost or missing?”
The top response to both questions was “Panic”. Interestingly, 97% of those surveyed had no idea who to contact (other than the police) if the unthinkable was to happen to their beloved dog. We also asked “Over the past year, have you become more fearful of taking your dog out for a walk in the daytime”? A staggering 65% of respondents answered “YES”.
After analysing the results of the survey, the loststolendog team sat down to come up with a solution to help reduce some of the panic and stress should the situation arise.
We launched a rapid alert system that our members could trigger if their dog was lost or stolen that would send an alert to all our members in a 5 mile radius and also posted on all local dog groups across our social media platforms. A dog, if lost or startled, can cover an average of 12 miles in one hour, so it is imperative that the alert is activated ASAP
Now 2 years on, a totally free service, run by volunteers, we have grown into a ‘dog friendly community’ with thousands of followers on the various social media platforms, who interact, share and communicate with each other.
The lost stolen dog Facebook group is also connected to loststolendog.com which provides an instant alert system, in the unfortunate event that your dogs is lost or stolen.
We want to encourage everyone to register their dog on www.loststolendog.com and benefit from our alert system, news, blogs, tips, tricks and advice that’s provided.

Loststolendog.com was founded in early 2021 by a group of dog lovers & owners.
Our purpose is to raise awareness to the rising problem regarding dog thefts which is spiralling out of control.
We started with four months of market research interviewing over 1000 dog owners up and down the country asking them what they would do in the case of their dog being lost or stolen.
Obviously panic and upset was top of the list, but 97% had no idea who to contact if the unthinkable was to happen to their beloved dog. The 3% that knew, was because they had experienced a loss or theft in the past.
So we sat down and devised a way to help reduce some of the panic and stress should the situation ever arise in the future.
As well as bringing awareness and highlighting the awful trend in dog theft, our aim is to become the U.K.’s largest community of dog lovers and like-minded people.
Through all our social media sites we will bring you news, facts, figures, updates, pictures & videos of all our beloved pooches.
